Let's settle this. 👇

Should a movie adaptation be 100% faithful to the book?

No.

A book and a movie are different art forms.

The book tells you what a character is THINKING.
The movie has to SHOW you what they are FEELING.

If you copy every page, you get a bad movie.
If you capture the soul, you get a classic.

That's why Lord of the Rings work.

Agree or disagree? Let's settle it in the comments

@thebookpolitics I agree! A great adaptation or movie should capture the soul of the book, not necessarily copy every page.
It can also be influenced by modern lifestyles, change in social values, and even due to the age of its audience.
What worked decades ago might not connect with viewers today. The key is knowing what to update and what must remain untouched.
So i'd say adaptation is about evolution without losing the story’s identity.

@jhemye love this take

this option won the debate cause going page to page and word for word will destroy the movie 😂 cant even imagine things fall apart going word for word

😂😂 At that point, it won’t just be things fall apart but the movie itself might fall apart lol
Cause i can imagine it'll be at least like a 6hrs movie even if rushed. So we might need like 5-6 seasons 😂😂😂
