Should a movie adaptation be 100% faithful to the book? 📚🎬
TEAM FAITHFUL says:
"If I loved the book, I want to SEE the book. Don't change my characters, don't cut my favorite scenes, don't give it a different ending to 'make it work for cinema.'"
TEAM CREATIVE says:
"A book and a film are different art forms. What works in 400 pages won't work in 2 hours. Sometimes the movie needs to change things to be better."
Where do you stand?
I'm Team CREATIVE. A great adaptation captures the soul of the book, not every single page. Look at Lord of the Rings, The Shawshank Redemption...
But don't touch Harry Potter. 😅
